pickling the last days of summer...

this is the time of year when we start scrambling to get all the fun things we planned for the summer - in. i always wish i could "pickle" these days and make them last the entire year long, but then i realize, that i wouldn't appreciate them quite as much if they were readily available throughout the year. so, here are some pictures of the fun we have been enjoying the last few weeks of summer...here's to the last days of summer!

 last weekend we canned 314 quarts of pickles...we are so thankful that the weather cooperated. now i cannot wait for them to "hatch" so we can eat them...we predict these pickles to be our best yet!

this and that...

wow! where has the time gone? as always, we have been busy filling our days with lots of summer activities and fun. here is a little of "this" and a little of "that" from the month of july...

 "this" was sophia's first year of tennis lessons 

 

 

 "this" was livia's 2nd year of tennis lessons. she is practicing with her friend, kaytlin 

 our family raised butterflies again this summer

 "that" is bobby releasing the butterflies into our neighbor's flower garden   

 one of our pins on our bucket list was to go to the drive-in movie theater.

"this" was the girls waiting for the movie "turbo" to begin - "that" was a fun night for all!  

 sophia had her "kindergarten connection" to get acquainted with her new school..."this" is her picture after her first day

 we headed over to grandpa's garden for a little work in the dirt!

 we took a trip to minneapolis to visit the bookstore, "the wild rumpus"

 "this" was our way of celebrating my birthday and date of when bobby and i met...
