summer fun...

happy summer! hasn't the weather
been FANTASTIC? We have been trying to get some of our bucket list items taken care of, but it seems there have been a lot of other fun events taking their place this month. Here is what we have been doing the last month...
a slip 'n slide (it only lasted this one time, but it was SO worth it!)

---
tennis lessons for the girls...grandma pam came to watch and it started to rain.
We waited it out under an umbrella together!
---
teacher bus 2015 (33 teachers and friends this year!)
i may or may not have taken this number from our table...it was a fun night!
---
painting at the paint factory with the sederholm girls
(it was a Christmas gift...better late than never, right?)

---
wizard of oz was showing in the park. There was a costume contest...livia was dorothy and sophia was glinda.
---
wedding and date night for mom and dad!
---
staining the deck...the kids were helping us out with the "small" spaces!
---
on our way to drop livia off at camp. This was her first time away from home. I think it was harder for mom, dad, and Sophia!
a quick pit stop to say "hi" to paul
after we dropped livia off at camp, we visited my family at their camp site near motley...
fun at the camp playground
shawn and i celebrating our summer birthdays!
---
back to pick livia up after a LONG week for us!
livia stayed in cabin #3...when i was there, i stayed in cabin #6.
 livia's bunk for the week

the back of livia's cabin that overlooked the lake
graduation ceremony - livia is officially a crossing patrol captain!
livia with all her cabin mates and camp counselor, kya
a stop off in little falls at the pine grove zoo (on our way home from legionville)

 our wild animals...

 these are their "turtle" faces!
---
birthday fun with bobby (it is also the anniversary of when we met. We have been together for 19 years!)
---
pickle party 2015 - we bought 9 bushels this year. We are definitely NOT going to run out this year!
grandma pam decided to crown anyone that was working hard a pickle princess or prince...

423 quarts later...

traditions...

uncle scott's cabin has become a tradition to the withers and woods families. We SO look forward to spending time with the family on Diamond Lake, and we try to vacation around the 4th of July each year. We wanted so badly to be at the cabin over the fourth this year, that we actually made our "reservations" (aka- asking Uncle Scott and Auntie Lisa) over Christmas break. We love "getting away" and enjoying God's country. Here are lots of photos from our enjoyable vacation on Diamond Lake.
tradition #1: zorbaz's for pizza
bike trip
(first year that everyone was on their own bike - even sophia!)

stop and smell  blow the dandelions - they were huge!
tradition #2: putting christmas lights in the fire
(can you see the circular wires in the middle of the fire?)
the lights create a beautiful show of colors in the flames!
new this year - an electric paddle boat

tradition #3: swimming in diamond lake
tradition #4: yard games (sophia giving the bean bags a go!)
new this year - yard yahtzee (made by my talented father!)
the way i played, i think this will become a tradition!
tradition #5: tubing (too bad the tube got a hole in it, and we weren't able to go back on it!)
tradition #6: snacks by the campfire...i tried a new recipe this year. we placed yummy treats inside of a sugar cone and toasted them over the fire.
nothing beats smores by the fire!
a morning scavenger hunt - each "kid" had a plate with all the letters of the alphabet on it. They each had to find something that started with that letter before we made it back to the cabin.
Fun activity for all!
tradition #7: go carts and arcade at the big kahuna in spicer
livia's first time driving alone!

sophia got to drive the "mini" go carts by herself
 ---
a few fun activities at the lake:
bubble snakes
bunch o' balloons (the best invention EVER!)
 pinatas- one for the kids
 one for the adults!

her royal highness!
bobby and sophia tried their hand at camping - first time for sophia, and she made it in the tent the entire night. way to go, sophia!
a little bit of reading by the lake...

4th of july fun!

red, white, and blue drink for the kiddos
 tradition #8: seafood boil
 watching fireworks from the pontoon

In the words of Sophia, "Can we come back every year?"
